What you need to understand before purchasing

SMRN is not a law firm.

SMRN is the trade name (d/b/a) of BR Center LLC, an Arizona limited liability company that provides document preparation software. It is not a law firm. It does not practice law. It does not provide legal advice.

You are not represented by an attorney through this service.

When you purchase the Services, you are not hiring a lawyer. You are not entering into an attorney-client relationship with SMRN, with any owner, member, manager, or employee of SMRN, or with any other person referenced on this Site.

What this service does

The Services consist of:

• An automated questionnaire that screens your eligibility under specified Arizona statutes
• Software that prepares Arizona court forms based on your answers
• Filing instructions, checklists, and reference information

What this service does not do

The Services do not include any of the following:

• Reviewing your case for legal sufficiency in the way a lawyer would
• Advising you on whether to file or not file
• Advising you on collateral consequences (immigration, employment, professional licensing, custody, etc.)
• Filing your forms with the court
• Serving the prosecutor or other parties
• Appearing at any hearing
• Negotiating with prosecutors or judges
• Responding to objections by the State
• Researching whether other forms of relief might be more appropriate for your situation
• Anything else that constitutes the practice of law

Why this distinction matters

Arizona law and the Arizona Rules of Professional Conduct treat document preparation services and legal services differently. Document preparation is permitted to non-lawyers and to non-law entities. Practicing law without a license — or paying a lawyer or law firm fees through a non-law entity — is not.

We are giving you this disclosure so that:

1. You understand exactly what you are getting (and what you are not getting)
2. You can make an informed decision about whether the Services meet your needs
3. We comply with Arizona Rule of Professional Conduct 5.7, which governs lawyers who provide law-related services through entities other than their law firm

When you should hire an attorney instead

You should consider hiring an attorney instead of (or in addition to) using the Services if:

• You are unsure whether you are eligible for the relief you are pursuing
• You have collateral concerns (immigration, professional licensing, custody, etc.)
• The court has scheduled a hearing on your petition
• The prosecutor has objected to your petition
• The court has denied your petition and you are considering an appeal or motion for reconsideration
• You have multiple convictions and are unsure which can be set aside, sealed, or expunged
• You are not confident that your answers to the questionnaire were complete and accurate
• You have any question that you would feel more comfortable asking a lawyer than asking software

The Site includes a "Need help? Talk to an attorney" referral button that links to Tamou Law Group (a separate Arizona law firm). Hiring Tamou Law Group, or any other licensed Arizona attorney, is a separate transaction governed by the engagement letter you sign with that firm. You are under no obligation to hire the referenced firm or any other firm.

Confirmation

Before completing your purchase, you will be asked to affirmatively acknowledge that you have read and understood this disclosure. We will record your acknowledgment, including the date, time, and IP address from which it was made, as part of our acceptance audit trail.

Required acknowledgment language at checkout

When the customer reaches the checkout page, they will see the following two checkboxes. Both must be checked before the "Continue to Payment" button becomes active:

☐ I understand that Seal My Record Now is not a law firm. I am purchasing document preparation software, not legal services. No attorney-client relationship is formed. For legal advice, I will consult a licensed attorney.

The system records:

• Both checkbox states (true/true)
• Server-side timestamp (UTC)
• IP address from which the acknowledgment was submitted
• User agent (browser / device)
• Email address associated with the account
• Document version strings (so we can prove which versions of the documents were accepted)
• The order ID this acknowledgment is associated with

This record is retained for seven years as part of our Privacy Policy data retention schedule.
